We have identified the need for an additional doctor to assist Professor Anthony Chu at his adult LCH clinic at Hammersmith Hospital, London.
Professor Chu currently sees between 14-16 patients fortnightly, looking after a total of 100 patients suffering from LCH. He sees a new patient at every clinic.
Professor Chu is due to retire in the next six years but currently, there is no-one trained to take his place at Hammersmith Hospital. As a result, The Histiocytosis Research Trust believes it is imperative that steps are now taken to train his replacement, under his tutelage.
This would involve employing either a registrar or GP and training him or her to take over from Professor Chu when he retires. As this would be a part-time post, the salary required would be £10,000 per annum.
If we do not train a successor, this adult clinic will be forced to close.
